We have Home Office funding confirmed until March 2025. Here are some of the projects currently funded by the core funding, and allocation of Serious Violence Duty funding:
- St Giles Trust: supporting our education across North Somerset, St Giles Trust’s SOS+ project delivers sessions to raise awareness with professionals, parents and young people (with a current focus on Year 5/6 delivery) in relation to knife crime, gangs and violence
- Start to Finish: working with young people age 16-24 years, the North Somerset VRP funded Start to Finish worker supports individuals who are already involved in criminality and violence, working with them to establish the root cause of their circumstances and plan to increase their future opportunities.
- Community Engagement: we regularly lead or support days and weeks of action linked to crime and violence awareness. We work collaboratively with partners and communities to reach as many people as possible, enabling community voices to be heard including within schools and college.
- Blunt Truth: working alongside Army medics, North Somerset VRP are delivering knife crime and knife carrying awareness sessions to secondary school students across our area.
- Mini Police: an innovative police engagement programme, delivered in schools. The scheme provides a fun and interactive way to introduce children to a positive experience of policing and to get them involved in the local community.
If your organisation or community group are interesting in hearing more about opportunities for the North Somerset Violence Reduction Partnership to support or deliver awareness, please do get in contact.
