Our priorities are to make North Somerset a safer place for residents, businesses, and visitors by reducing crime and the fear of crime by addressing the risk, threat and harm to victims and local communities and by strengthening the role of North Somerset's communities in the delivery of local initiatives. The partnership has a legal duty to undertake an annual strategic assessment of local community safety, and to implement a partnership plan to coordinate work to address the priorities that this highlights.
The safer stronger partnership strategy guides the work of partners and helps them to:
- consolidate existing strategies related to safer and stronger communities into a single document
- link related themes and give clarity and focus to the partnership’s work
- identify actions, with targets, for delivering some of the more general outcomes
- learn from more recent changes to our working and living environment
Our new Safer Communities Plan for North Somerset identified four key priorities for 2022-2025. These priorities include:
- Prevention of Serious Violence
- Protecting People from Harm
- Strengthen and Improve Local Communities
- Tackling Exploitation
