Revellers in Weston-super-Mare are being asked ‘Don’t be a Dick’ as their Christmas celebrations get under way.

The Dick and Franny duo are back with their Christmas campaign in a bid to make drinkers think about their behaviour during nights out over the festive period

It is aimed at 18 to 30-year-olds who will be out enjoying Weston’s pubs and clubs and remind them what can happen if they over do the festive cheer.

The campaign features two characters – Richard and Francesca – in a series of different situations, reflecting the most common problems people cause or encounter on a night out.

We want everyone to have a safe night out by drinking responsibly and ensuring alcohol doesn’t ruin theirs or anyone else’s Christmas.

This campaign is aimed at the minority who have a few too many and who then start to cause problems, either for themselves or others. We hope it will get them to think twice before they do something they will probably regret when they’ve sobered up.

This year, the Dick and Franny duo fall foul of the Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) and the new Behave or Be Banned Scheme.

The Behave or Be Banned (BOBB) is a new partnership scheme which bans people from the evening and night-time economy for anti-social behaviour and disorder.

The eye-catching campaign is one element in a programme of joint initiatives aimed at reducing alcohol-fuelled crime and disorder and supporting a safer and more diverse night-time economy in Weston-super-Mare.
