Welcome to the world of licensingSafer Stronger North Somerset
A vital service that often goes unnoticed will be highlighted by North Somerset Council next week during National Licensing Week (17-21 June).
The week, organised by the Institute of Licensing, aims to raise awareness about licensing and its impact on everyday lives.
“Licensing plays a vital role in setting standards and keeping us safe,” said North Somerset Council’s deputy leader and executive member for regulatory services, Cllr Mike Bell.
“From checking pubs, clubs, arcades and betting shops to ensuring the safety of taxis, tattooists and boarding kennels, licensing is an area which affects many aspects of daily life, yet often goes unnoticed.”
As part of the week, the familiar purple StreetSafe bus MAVIS will be in the Italian Gardens in Weston town centre on Friday 21 June between 10am and 2pm. There you will be able to meet members of the various enforcement teams in North Somerset, find out what they do and join in with some enforcement activities.
