Community Safety and Police give student safety advice to Freshers

Officers from the Community Safety Team and Avon and Somerset Constabulary were in Weston-super-Mare on Wednesday 6 September to offer safety advice to students at the Weston College Freshers’ Fair.

The team had a busy day engaging with students from the council’s StreetSafe bus MAVIS (multi-agency vehicle in service), which parked in the new Italian Gardens. From MAVIS, officers handed out lots of student safety guides and offered information and advice to the students.

We also had an opportunity to speak to members of the public who were particularly interested in the distinctive purple MAVISbus. We answered lots of questions and provided information and advice on a range of topics including Weston’s Purple Flag award, Anti-Social Behaviour and our work in the evening and night time economy.

If you missed us today, we will be back on the MAVISbus in the Italian Gardens on Monday 11 September 2017 from 1pm until 4pm.
